Distinguished Flying Cross citation awarded to First Lieutenant Larry L. Cavender for his actions on 27 February 1970 near Ben Het, South Vietnam. Flying an A-1H Skyraider, Cavender led a two-ship flight delivering close air support to a besieged long-range reconnaissance team after two rescue helicopters had already been shot down, repeatedly braving heavy ground fire to keep the team from being overrun until extraction could be completed.
