On August 19, 1945, Japanese surrender envoys landed at Ie Shima airfield in white-painted "Betty" bombers marked with green crosses of truce, where American servicemen crowded in to witness the moment. These photographs from the 345th Bombardment Group GÇö the "Air Apaches" GÇö document that historic stopover on the delegation's way to Manila and the terms that ended World War II in the Pacific.
