Don Engebretson [as spelled on name tape] in the 602nd Fighter Squadron Party Suit, SOAR XXXVIII, Las Vegas, 2014 (Reduced-Size Rendition)

Special Operations Association Reunion XXXVIII, Las Vegas, 2014. Don Engebretsen, Special Operations Association member 3133 - his name tape here embroidered 'DON ENGEBRETSON' - in the orange A-1 Skyraider 'party suit' he wore to these reunions. The gold embroidery reads '602nd Fighter Squadron', a Skyraider unit that flew under the callsigns Firefly and Sandy; the round patch bears a World War I SPAD biplane and the pilots' joke 'You've been had by a Spad'; the black pirate flag reads 'Yankee Air Pirate', a term American aircrew adopted from North Vietnamese propaganda. Engebretsen flew Skyraiders with the Da Nang OLAA detachment in support of MACV-SOG reconnaissance teams. This file is a reduced-size rendition of a professional event photograph held at full size elsewhere in the collection. Project: 219876
