Topographic Map Sheet, Tri-Border Area, Kontum Province, Vietnam Series L7014 Sheet 6538 III (1968 Map Information)
A reproduction of US topographic map sheet 6538 III, Vietnam Series L7014, covering the tri-border area of western Kontum Province where South Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia meet. Contour lines at 20-metre intervals show the near-impassable ridge-and-valley terrain that made this region both a natural corridor for the Ho Chi Minh Trail and a priority target for cross-border reconnaissance. Teams of the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG), operating from Command and Control Central at Kontum, were inserted by helicopter into these valleys throughout the war. Ben Het appears at lower left and the districts of Dak Sut and Dak To at centre. The sheet carries 1968 map information; all coordinates on it fall within the YB grid square. Project: 219840
