Stencilled on its fin, however, a United States Air Force serial is partially readable, with a small 'AF' above the digits '34' and large digits reading '509', the remainder lost at the frame edge. Photographed in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War, the image is heavily underexposed and grainy, but preserves a moment of flight-line camaraderie that posed photographs rarely capture.
