Douglas A-1 Skyraider (Fin Number ...776) in Close Formation with an OV-10A Bronco, Photographed from a Second Skyraider, Southeast Asia, Vietnam War Era
A Douglas A-1 Skyraider, fin number ending "776", flies in close formation beneath an OV-10A Bronco forward air control aircraft over jungle country. The Skyraider wears Southeast Asia camouflage streaked with exhaust staining, carries an external tank and further stores under the wing, and shows the star-and-bar insignia on its aft fuselage. In the foreground, the camouflaged wing of the photographing Skyraider is captured in unusual detail, down to its red stencils and static discharge wicks. Skyraiders and Broncos flying together in this way were the core of the "Sandy" search-and-rescue effort and of forward air control over the Laotian border regions. Project: 219827
