This slideshow presents the Distinguished Flying Cross citation (First Oak Leaf Cluster) awarded to 1st Lt. Donald L. Engebretsen for heroism on 5 January 1970. Flying an A-1H Skyraider, Engebretsen pressed repeated low-altitude attacks against enemy forces surrounding a reconnaissance team, enabling its safe helicopter evacuation under fire.
