A U.S. Air Force Cessna O-2A Skymaster taxis on the runway of a Southeast Asian air base during the Vietnam War. Known to aircrews as the 'Oscar Deuce,' the twin-engine, twin-boom O-2A served as a Forward Air Controller platform, directing airstrikes and coordinating close air support for ground forces. Aircraft such as this one operated from bases including Nakhon Phanom, Thailand, and Da Nang, South Vietnam, in close cooperation with A-1 Skyraider 'Sandy' rescue escorts and other strike aircraft.
