Base newspaper clipping, 7 February 1970. In this continuation of a front-page story, Lieutenant Seith recounts an A-1 Skyraider close air support mission flown from alert out of Da Nang. Poor weather forced the flight low; a Forward Air Controller marked the target while friendly troops marked their own positions with smoke. Major Buttermore attacked first, followed by Seith, in roughly five bombing runs, three cannon passes and a minigun strafing run before weather closed the target. Accounts like this one, printed for the men who flew them, are among the few contemporary narrative records of the Da Nang Spad detachment's daily work. Project: 219421
