Douglas A-1 Skyraider Overhead in Shallow Bank, Silhouetted Against Overcast, Air Show, 7 June 2014

A Douglas A-1 Skyraider passes overhead in shallow bank, silhouetted against flat overcast, at an air show on 7 June 2014. Seen from directly below, the aircraft is unmistakable: the long straight wing is lined with a comb of external stores pylons - the Skyraider carried fifteen hardpoints, an extraordinary number for a single-engine aircraft, and could lift an ordnance load heavier than a Second World War heavy bomber. Two external fuel tanks are hung on the inboard stations. From the Neal Melton material in the Don Engebretsen collection, associated with the Tennessee Museum of Aviation, Sevierville.
