This preserved Douglas A-1 Skyraider, photographed head-on with its wings folded for display, wears the dark green Southeast Asia camouflage carried by Skyraiders flying close-air-support and rescue-escort missions during the Vietnam War. Powered by a massive radial engine driving a four-bladed propeller, the rugged Skyraider remained in front-line U.S. service into the early 1970s and is treasured today by warbird museums for its historical significance and distinctive silhouette.
