A preserved Douglas A-1 Skyraider taxis at a warbird airshow, its Southeast Asia camouflage scheme evoking the aircraft's Vietnam War service. Rugged and heavily armed, the A-1 flew ground-attack and rescue escort missions -- earning aircrews flying it the radio callsign 'Sandy' -- long after piston-engine fighters had been retired by most other air arms.
