Two restored Douglas A-1 Skyraiders sit on the ramp at the Tennessee Museum of Aviation. The Skyraider, nicknamed "Spad" by the pilots who flew it, was a rugged, propeller-driven attack aircraft that served with distinction in the Vietnam War, most notably flying close air support and "Sandy" search-and-rescue escort missions to protect downed airmen.
