Nose Detail of Restored A-1 Skyraider 'Wiley Coyote' with Pilot in Cockpit, Reunion Event
The nose art 'Wiley Coyote' adorns the cowling of this restored A-1 Skyraider, seen here with its pilot preparing for flight at a veteran reunion event. The Skyraider, nicknamed the 'Spad' by the men who flew it, was prized during the Vietnam War for its ability to loiter over the battlefield and deliver heavy ordnance in support of ground troops and downed-airman rescues. Surviving airworthy Skyraiders like this one continue to fly at airshows and reunions in tribute to the pilots and crews who operated them. Project: 219252
