The Distinguished Flying Cross citation awarded to First Lieutenant Edward L. Homan, USAF, for heroism on 6 October 1969. Flying an A-1 Skyraider in Southeast Asia, Homan laid down close-in covering fire during a Search and Rescue mission after two transport helicopters were shot down, shielding the survivors until they could be recovered.
