Two photographs from the personal collection of Jax Roberts: an aircrew member in flight suit and survival harness beside tiered steel racks of ordnance and external fuel tanks, and the shredded outer wing panel of an A-1 Skyraider hit by enemy ground fire. Together they show both sides of the Vietnam air war in Southeast Asia, the logistics yard that armed daily combat sorties and the battle damage a Skyraider could absorb on low-altitude close air support and "Sandy" rescue escort missions and still bring its pilot home.
