This April 1970 Air Force Times clipping tells the remarkable survival story of Capt. Laurence C. Johnson, accidentally pulled from a C-130 Hercules when his parachute deployed prematurely over hostile Southeast Asian territory. Injured and evading enemy search parties through the night, Johnson was ultimately located by an A-1 Skyraider and rescued by a Jolly Green Giant helicopter crew, a vivid example of the search-and-rescue teamwork that defined USAF combat operations in Vietnam.
