The men wear sage-green flight suits with subdued name patches and aviator wings. Their unit, Operating Location Alpha Alpha of the 56th Special Operations Wing, flew Skyraiders from Da Nang, devoting nearly half its missions to supporting MACV-SOG reconnaissance teams operating across the border. The scan preserves the caption slip along with the print, the kind of contemporaneous annotation that makes a photograph identifiable half a century later.
