Douglas A-1 Skyraiders in Flight, Tail Codes 'TC' (AF 39-702) and 'TT', Southeast Asia, Vietnam War Era
Two Douglas A-1 Skyraiders fly in formation over Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. The A-1, a rugged propeller-driven attack aircraft originally designed for the U.S. Navy, was heavily used by the U.S. Air Force for close air support, escort, and search-and-rescue missions throughout the conflict. This photograph, taken from within the cockpit of one Skyraider looking toward its distinctively marked tail ('TC', serial AF 39-702), captures the aircraft in its element on a combat mission.
