Two November 1970 photographs from Da Nang Air Base: A-1 Skyraider pilots Mel Swanson and Bob Donaldson in an off-duty moment, and the inside of a "SPAD Ops" hut with airmen Levi Rentz, Chris Tateishi, and Sgt. Dieter Rapske between missions. Field telephones, radios, and status boards fill the operations room where Skyraider combat sorties were coordinated, while the nickname "Spad" itself speaks to the affection crews held for the rugged, WWII-era-designed aircraft they flew.
