A-1 Skyraider and OV-10 Bronco in Formation Above the Clouds
A USAF A-1 Skyraider pilot's view of a wingman flying formation alongside an OV-10 Bronco forward air controller above the clouds of Southeast Asia, circa 1970. The Skyraider, nicknamed the 'Spad,' provided rugged, heavily armed close air support and rescue escort (call sign 'Sandy') for downed aircrew throughout the Vietnam War, often working in tandem with FAC aircraft like the OV-10 to mark targets and coordinate strikes.
