Citation accompanying the Distinguished Flying Cross (First Oak Leaf Cluster) awarded to Captain Robert H. Karre, USAF, for heroism as an A-1H Skyraider pilot over Southeast Asia on 28 June 1969. Scrambled in poor weather, Captain Karre made repeated low-level attacks through heavy enemy fire to protect a friendly ground patrol, silencing hostile positions and preventing the unit's annihilation.
