General View of War Trophies Exhibition Hall with Captured Ordnance and Allied Portraits, Ohio, c. 1918-1919
This photograph documents a large-scale war trophies exhibition staged in an Ohio exposition hall in the years immediately following the First World War. Captured enemy ordnance, small arms, and formal portraits of Allied leaders were arranged along a converted hall floor for public viewing, part of a wave of civic exhibitions and Liberty/Victory Loan drives that brought tangible evidence of the war home to American communities.
