Draped in American and British bunting, this War Trophies gallery at Cincinnati's Music Hall displayed captured enemy ordnance and equipment as part of the city's Allied War Exposition. Such trophy displays, featured in the December 1918 Allied War Exposition and again with French Army trophies in December 1919, gave civilian visitors a tangible, close-up look at the materiel of modern industrial warfare, artillery shells, mechanical apparatus, and battlefield hardware, seized from the Central Powers during World War I.
