One of the most moving features of Cincinnati's 1918 Allied War Exposition was this wall of roughly 6,000 portrait photographs of local men and women who served in World War I, submitted by families and arranged alphabetically as a community roll of honor. Many of these images, including photographs of women who served with the Red Cross, were later donated to the Historical and Philosophical Society of Ohio, forerunner of today's Cincinnati Museum Center, preserving the faces of a generation who answered the call to service.
