This original, unmounted print preserves the wartime caption strip issued with U.S. Army Air Forces strike photography. Though damaged and partly illegible, the surviving text references a date of 19 October 1943 and a 1300-hours strike time, consistent with Fifth Air Force operations against Japanese shipping in the New Guinea/New Britain area during the period the 312th Bombardment Group was active in the theater.
