The Snapshots in Time Collection
Album Page - Brandy Plantation and Bombing Near Japanese Hospital, Boram, Wewak, 11 April 1944
This album page from a 312th Bomb Group veteran's personal collection preserves two handwritten captions: 'Brandy Plantation, Wewak' and 'American bombs falling near Jap hospital at Boram, Wewak 4-11-44.' The lower photograph documents an Allied air strike on 11 April 1944 near the Boram plantation area, part of the Japanese base complex around Wewak, New Guinea, that was repeatedly targeted by Fifth Air Force bombers throughout the New Guinea campaign. Original period wording has been preserved for historical accuracy. Project: 218560
