Labeled 'Wantoat,' this aerial photograph depicts rugged, jungle-covered mountain terrain in New Guinea's Morobe Province, an area within the operational range of Fifth Air Force units, including the 312th Bomb Group, during the New Guinea campaign of 1943–1944. Photographs like this, taken from reconnaissance aircraft and mounted for reference, supported mission planning and target identification in the difficult mountain and jungle terrain of the Southwest Pacific theater.
