Aerial View of Bomb-Damaged Town, 312th Bomb Group Collection
Aerial view of a town devastated by bombing, from the collection of the 312th Bombardment Group, a light-attack unit that flew A-20 Havoc and later A-26 Invader aircraft against Japanese positions across New Guinea and the Philippines. Damage-assessment photographs such as this documented the effectiveness of Allied air campaigns and the heavy toll exacted on occupied towns during the Pacific War. Project: 218533
