On September 25, 1920, veterans of the 348th Machine Gun Battalion, 91st Division - the 'Wild West Division' - gathered at States Restaurant for their first reunion banquet, two years after the Armistice that ended World War I. Raised largely from men of the western United States and trained at Camp Lewis, Washington, the 91st Division saw hard fighting in the Meuse-Argonne offensive and the Ypres-Lys campaign of 1918. This photograph preserves a moment of postwar fellowship among the machine gunners who served together in France. Project: 218513
