The Bell P-39 Airacobra was a distinctive U.S. Army Air Forces fighter of World War II, recognizable by its tricycle landing gear, mid-mounted engine, and nose cannon firing through the propeller spinner. The Q model was the most heavily produced Airacobra variant, with many examples supplied to Soviet forces under Lend-Lease, where the type saw extensive and effective use in the low-altitude ground-attack role on the Eastern Front.
