This photograph documents a North American NA-50, a single-seat fighter variant developed from North American's successful T-6/BT-9 trainer airframe for export sale to foreign air forces in the years just before World War II. A small number of NA-50s were purchased by the Peruvian Air Force, where they saw combat during the brief 1941 Ecuadorian-Peruvian War, marking one of North American Aviation's earliest forays into the export fighter market.
