Photographed on 6 May 1957, this North American T-28 Trojan represents the U.S. Navy's postwar generation of piston-engine primary trainers. Replacing the venerable SNJ Texan, the T-28 prepared thousands of Navy and Air Force pilots for advanced flight training during the 1950s and remained in service for decades, including later use in counter-insurgency roles.
