The Snapshots in Time Collection
Gallery: Part 6
An American serviceman's album from the China-Burma-India Theater looks outward at wartime China: hillside temples and terraced rice paddies, a young Nationalist army bugler, a street scene outside a country inn, and a camp mascot on a gravel riverbed. Handwritten caption cards, including one on hiding during a jing bao air raid, preserve the observations that gave these snapshots their meaning.
