Reverse of 1899 U.S. Army Military Record — Philippine-American War Service, 36th U.S. Volunteer Infantry
This 1899-1900 U.S. Army military record documents the Philippine-American War service of an officer commissioned as Captain in the 36th United States Volunteer Infantry. The handwritten list of engagements at Bacolor, Porac, Florida Blanca, Mabalacat, Tarlac, and Murcia reflects the grinding counterinsurgency campaign fought across Luzon's Pampanga and Tarlac provinces following the U.S. acquisition of the Philippines from Spain. Paymaster and travel-allowance annotations at the bottom of the document illustrate the administrative processes of mustering out volunteer officers after their term of service, part of the Carl Stone Philippines collection.
