A U.S. Navy F4U-5N Corsair night fighter, fuselage number 48, photographed in flight from USS Leyte (CV-32) on 8 January 1950. Equipped with an underwing radar pod for night interception, the F4U-5N represented the final and most advanced Corsair variant, entering fleet service just months before the outbreak of the Korean War, in which Leyte's air group would soon see combat.
