This June 1944 clipping from Leatherneck magazine documents Marine Fighter Squadron VMF-112, the 'Wolf Pack,' as newly trained pilots prepared to carry on the legacy of one of the Marine Corps' most celebrated fighter units. Led by Guadalcanal veteran Major Herman 'Hap' Hansen Jr., the squadron transitioned from the Grumman F4F Wildcat to the gull-winged Vought F4U Corsair before returning to combat against Japanese forces in the Pacific.
