Gallery: McAleer Part e
Drawn from the personal album of Pat McAleer, these images follow naval and Marine aviators through their World War II service in the Pacific, from cockpit inspections and air-to-air fighter photography to card games outside canvas tents. Together with newspaper clippings and a scrapbook relic recovered from a strafing run, they preserve both the danger and the daily rhythm of island air war.
