Four veterans serve on a symposium panel at the 38th Special Operations Association Reunion (SOAR XXXVIII), Las Vegas, 2014. Their dress records their service: an Air Force retiree's ballcap, a navy aircrew party suit with pilot wings and a 'SPADS' tab, and the orange A-1 Skyraider party suit at right — name tape DOUG CARMICHAEL — bearing a YANKEE AIR PIRATE patch, worn by aircrew who flew combat missions over North Vietnam. Douglas A-1 Skyraider units, including the Da Nang detachment known as OLAA, flew a large share of their sorties in direct support of MACV-SOG reconnaissance teams operating across the border into Laos and Cambodia.
