The Don Englebreston Collection
Member in Orange Flight Party Suit Speaking to the Assembly, Special Operations Association Reunion, October 2014
Special Operations Association Reunion, October 2014. A member addresses the assembled veterans wearing an orange flight-style 'party suit,' the informal squadron garment on which aircrew sewed their wings, unit patches and name tape. Within this collection the orange suit is linked to the SPADS — the Douglas A-1 Skyraider community of the 56th Special Operations Wing, whose propeller-driven aircraft flew close air support for MACV-SOG reconnaissance teams operating across the borders of Laos and Cambodia. Decades later, the same garment identifies its wearer to his peers at a glance. Project: 219863
