An airman in a sage-green Nomex flight suit pauses outside a doorway marked COMMANDER in a US Air Force squadron office during the Vietnam War. Behind him, a hand-filled wall planner records the rhythm of squadron life — pilots' meetings, staff meetings, training periods, and separate rows tracking R&R, leave and aircraft changes. Photographs of squadron interiors are far rarer than flight-line images, and they preserve the administrative machinery on which every mission depended.
