Looking straight into the muzzle of an aircraft weapons pod, this Vietnam-era colour slide records a detail rarely photographed: six barrel openings set in a ring around a central hub, deep inside the pod's muzzle shroud — the arrangement of a six-barrel 7.62 mm minigun installation. A red REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT streamer, its lettering still partly legible, hangs from the pod body; ground crews fitted such pennants to stores on the ramp and removed them as the last act before an aircraft taxied. The purple cast is the result of dye fading in the original transparency, which was scanned decades later for a veterans' reunion banner project. Project: 219858
