Google Earth Wide Oblique View Titled RT Vermont from Hatchet Force, with Two Annotated Placemarks, Modern Screen Capture
A present-day Google Earth capture, not a wartime photograph, titled by its maker RT Vermont from Hatchet Force. Two markers are placed on the forested terrain, one for a proposed Hatchet Force position in the foreground and one, several kilometers distant, for the point where RT Vermont is believed to have encountered a booby trap; the question marks in both labels acknowledge the uncertainty. A boundary line runs across the view, a reminder that MACV-SOG reconnaissance operated across national frontiers. Views like this are built by veterans and historians to translate wartime grid coordinates back into recognizable ground. Project: 219841
