Hand Indicating a Small-Calibre Projectile Hole in Aircraft Skin, Vietnam War Era

A finger indicates a single small-calibre hole punched through the skin of an aircraft, the metal torn outward around the entry. Placing a hand in the frame gave scale to a photograph that would otherwise be hard to read. Aircrew and groundcrew in Southeast Asia commonly recorded damage this way after a mission - evidence of the ground fire that low-flying aircraft such as the A-1 Skyraider absorbed as a matter of routine.
