Aerial Oblique View of a Vietnamese Riverside Fishing Village and Adjacent Rice Paddies, Vietnam War Era
A Vietnamese fishing village photographed from the air during the Vietnam War era, its stilt houses crowding the water's edge and its sampans and wooden trawlers moored along the bank. Behind the palms stand larger masonry buildings in the French colonial style, and beyond them the rice paddies that sustained the delta and coastal communities. Filed among aviation material, the image is nonetheless a purely civilian view, and neither its precise location nor its date can be established from the photograph itself. Project: 219827
