Douglas A-1 Skyraiders 'AD 655' and 'AD 862' Taxiing on Runway
Two Douglas A-1 Skyraider attack aircraft taxi for takeoff, their Southeast Asia camouflage and bold 'AD' tail codes clearly visible. Rugged and heavily armed, the propeller-driven Skyraider earned the nickname 'Spad' for its outdated but effective design, flying close air support and search-and-rescue escort ('Sandy') missions throughout the Vietnam War.
