Squadron humor survives in "Spads with a Load," a 1970 parody of Roger Miller's "King of the Road" written by 1st Lt. Warren Blanchard. Its verses celebrate the A-1 Skyraider's heavy ordnance loads, long loiter times, and search-and-rescue escort work over Vietnam and Laos, preserving the voice of the pilots who flew it.
