USAF A-1 Skyraider 'TT 779' in Flight with Ordnance, Air-to-Air View
A U.S. Air Force A-1 Skyraider, tail-coded 'TT 779,' flies above the clouds fully loaded with rockets and bombs. Nicknamed the 'Spad' by the pilots who flew it, the piston-engine Skyraider was prized in Vietnam for its long loiter time and heavy ordnance capacity, making it the aircraft of choice for close air support and for escorting search-and-rescue helicopters on 'Sandy' missions deep into hostile territory.
