The photographer flew Skyraiders with Operating Location Alpha Alpha at Da Nang, a detachment of the 56th Special Operations Wing that devoted nearly half of its missions to supporting MACV-SOG reconnaissance teams. Photographs like this one record the ordinary working landscape of the air war - the mud, the metal roofs, the wire and the enormous sky - as much as the flying itself. Project: 219603
