Restored A-1 Skyraider 'Lieutenant America' with Museum Visitors, Tennessee Air Museum
A preserved Douglas A-1 Skyraider, nicknamed 'Lieutenant America,' on static display in a Tennessee air museum hangar. The Skyraider, affectionately known to its pilots as the 'Spad,' was a rugged single-engine attack aircraft flown extensively during the Vietnam War in close air support and search-and-rescue escort roles. This photograph, taken in April 2011, shows museum visitors examining the aircraft's cockpit and nose art up close. Project: 219533
